At Better Life Chiropractic we practice Network Chiropractic, a gentle form of chiropractic care.
Network Chiropractic is a modern form of chiropractic that is gentle, calming, relaxing, balancing, de-stressing and pain relieving.
Why choose Network Chiropractic instead of regular chiropractic care?
We have chosen to use Network Chiropractic because it treats pain and injury and may be very beneficial even in cases that have not responded well to other forms of treatment.
Important Note: Unlike many regular chiropractic techniques, Network does not involve the adjustment or manipulation of the spine, so you don’t have to worry about any cracking or crunching of the spinal joints.
Instead, Network works by releasing the tension which has built up in your nervous system over the years and which is now showing itself through tightness and restriction in the muscles, spine and joints, and ligaments.
How does it work?
Your body stores tension caused by bad experiences, worry, stress, exposure to chemical toxins (1000’s of these every day), poor nutrition or injury, in a part of your nervous system called the spinal cord. Because this tension slowly increases over your whole lifetime, you may not even realise it’s there. The increased tension in the spinal cord causes added tension in the muscles along the spine, pelvic area and even other joints like hips and knees.
When your spine, muscles and other tissues are excessively tense, it means that there is extra strain on painful or injured tissues often aggravating the pain and making it more difficult to heal. In addition, blood flow through the tense and locked up areas may be restricted preventing the nutrients required for healing from being delivered to where they are needed most.
With light and gentle touches to very precise areas, Network Chiropractic triggers better communication between the brain and body. Because of this enhanced connection or awareness, spinal cord tension releases which naturally allows muscles to relax more towards their proper resting tone. The muscles also achieve a better balance and in this state they appear to heal better and are less likely to re-injure. Likewise, the spine softens and naturally shifts towards better alignment and posture. In the softer, more relaxed tissues, blood flow is enhanced which allows the body to begin its own natural healing process. When your own body is more effective in healing itself, real improvement is more likely to occur.
The technique, when utilised appropriately, often achieves excellent results. A straighter spine, free of excess tension, is then able to allow a more effective flow of nerve messages around the body so it functions as it should, and your health is protected.
Why should I seek chiropractic help?
Because the tension has built up slowly over the years, your brain may not be aware of it. Your body operates in a less than optimal condition until the pain makes you realise that something is wrong.
Research tells us that up to 70% of back pain conditions are considered to be due to excessive muscle tension resulting in strains or tears.
We also know that stiffness and distortion in the spine, excess tension in the muscles, and non-optimum nervous system control of body movements can add abnormal strain to the joints (spinal and others), restrict proper joint motion, cause abnormal weight bearing in the joints, prevent forces from being dispersed properly through the spine and cause abnormal wear of the joints. The result, not infrequently, is pain, degeneration and osteoarthritis.
Any of the following might also occur:
- Headaches and migraines
- Back and/or neck pain
- Numbness, tingling, muscle weakness
- Growing pains
- Recurring injuries, or injuries that recover poorly
- Stress related conditions, conditions made worse by stress
Why would you put up with these problems if there is a gentle solution available to you?
Who is it suitable for?
This technique is so gentle that it is safe for small children, adults, pregnant women and the elderly. It is suitable for people who have been hurt in an accident or who have suffered from pain, even for those suffering for a long time.
