If you are one of the many people who suffer from neck pain, you will be pleased to know that we give you a gentle neck pain treatment that may work very well for you.

Neck pain can be caused in many ways:

  • Poor posture
  • No ergonomic furniture
  • Slumping at the desk
  • Sleeping on a poor mattress
  • Accident
  • Whiplash (even a minor accident may cause pain years later)
  • Stress.

Sometimes even turning too quickly is all that it takes to hurt your neck. It’s a delicate and slim support for a head which is heavy and needs to turn, bend and rotate constantly.

When your neck is painful and stiff, it is not safe to drive a car or operate machinery. It’s hard to sit or sleep comfortably and it’s impossible to pick your child up for a cuddle without pain.

Neck pain can radiate down the arms or even into the upper back and shoulders. It can cause headaches and occasionally even dizziness, and pins and needles in your arms or fingers. Your arms and/or hands may even become numb or weak.

Even worse, when your neck is out of alignment it throws the rest of your spine into stress as it tries to compensate for the lack of neck movement. You will often find that you are sitting crookedly and after a while you notice that one shoulder is high and your upper back is very tense.

Unfortunately, when there is a problem in one area of the spine, it can have a flow on effect. That is why it’s so important to seek treatment as soon as you have a problem.

When you have neck pain like this, you may not want to have your neck “cracked” by a chiropractor but at Better Life Chiropractic, we use a different technique which is safe and gentle with no cracking or crunching of spinal joints.

Network will help ease the tension around the neck using a gentle touch at special points which may include the base of the skull, the neck or the pelvic area. You may be surprised to know that neck pain may occur as a result of an unbalance in the pelvis that may not even be causing pelvic area pain at the time. Trying to correct the neck itself under these circumstances is unlikely to lead to any real improvement.

As the tension is eased, the muscles slowly release their grip, allowing the vertebrae to return to their normal position. That in turn takes the pressure off the nerves which may be irritated or inflamed when the neck is out of alignment and it helps to relieve the pain. As the blood begins to circulate properly once more in the softer and more relaxed tissues, it is able to carry essential nutrients to the damaged areas to support them as they heal.

Often, Network may relieve pain that other treatment may not have been able to help.
